The cost of hiring a lift typically ranges from 150 to 350 euros, depending on the duration, the height of the building and the location. Most providers charge a base rate that includes delivery, setup and an operator. Weekend and evening bookings may carry a surcharge. Booking a lift with MovingLift.nl is simple. Use our online booking form and fill in your address, preferred date and floor number. Most standard furniture lifts can reach up to the 4th or 5th storey, which is approximately 12 to 15 metres. Professional-grade lifts can go as high as the 8th or even 9th floor, reaching up to 27 metres. When you book with us, we will match you with the right lift for your building height. This is especially important for our Rotterdam lift operations, where high-rise apartments are common.

In most Dutch municipalities, you do not need a permit for the lift itself. However, if the lift needs to be placed on a public road, you may need to arrange a temporary no-parking zone. We handle the paperwork for you and advise you on the local regulations in your area.

A typical relocation using a furniture elevator takes between 2 and 4 hours. The exact duration depends on the volume of your belongings, the floor you are moving to or from, and how accessible the building is. Most of our rental packages include a minimum of 2 hours, so you have plenty of time to complete the job comfortably.

A moving lift and a ladder lift refer to the same type of external elevator. "Furniture lift" (verhuislift) is the common name in the Netherlands, while "ladder lift" (ladderlift) is the more technical term. You may also hear "removal lift" or "furniture hoist." All describe an external elevator placed against a building to hoist furniture and boxes up or down via a rail system.

Yes, most lifts are compact enough to operate in narrow streets and tight spaces. Our experienced operators know exactly how to position the lift safely, even in older city centres with limited room. For example, our Amsterdam lift service regularly operates in the narrow streets of the Jordaan and along the canals. If you are unsure whether a lift can reach your building, send us a photo of the street and we will advise you.

Yes, all lift operations carried out through MovingLift.nl are covered by our liability insurance. This means your belongings are protected against damage during the lift process. We always recommend checking the specific terms before your move. If you have high-value items, please let us know so we can take extra precautions.

A standard lift can carry up to 400 kg per trip. This is more than enough for most furniture, washing machines, sofas and wardrobes. For exceptionally heavy items such as pianos or safes, specialist lifts are available that can handle up to 600 kg. Let us know about any heavy items when you book so we can prepare accordingly.
